Edition 8  [20th/21st June ] - Moate & Castledaly Newsletter [http://www.parishofmoate.com/newsletter/edition7.html]

Reflect: Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time - One of the practical ways we live out our faith is by showing compassion and care for those who are sick. Just as Jairus in the Gospel miracle-story turned to Jesus to heal his daughter, we pray for those who are sick. We ask that Jesus comfort them, heal them and give them strength. Like Jairus and the woman with the haemorrhage, we have full faith in Jesus' power to heal.

Cemetery Sundays: Mass will be celebrated in Donegan Cemetery on Sunday July 5th at 3pm. Mass will be celebrated in Castledaly Cemetery on Sunday July 12th at 3pm. Cemetery Sunday is a very special occasion when people come together to remember their departed loved ones. It can be a sad and lonely time as memories come back to us of the ones for whom we pray. While they are gone from us now we try to console ourselves that they are enjoying a fuller life of peace and joy and happiness in God's presence in heaven. 'I am the Ressurection and the Life, the one who believes in me will never suffer'.

Donegan Cemetery: There are plans in place to build a new shelter for the celebration of Mass in the Cemetery. The shelter will also serve as a place for family and friends to sit and pray on wet and wintry days. It is also proposed to erect Stations of the Cross in the Cemetery to assist people as they try to cope with the crosses and burdens of life which come especially at the time of a bereavement. In addition the proposed plans incorporate landscaping, providing seating, signposts and the name of the cemetery at both entrances. The committee in charge will be requesting a donation of €100 from each family with a deceased member buried in the cemetery.

Arranging Baptism: Baptism can be arranged by phoning one of the priests well in advance of the intended date. Meaningful celebration of the Sacrament requires that parents be committed to bringing their child up in the faith by the example of their own lives in prayer, in worship and in Christian living.
