Edition 7  [13th/14th June ] - Moate & Castledaly Newsletter [http://www.parishofmoate.com/newsletter/edition7.html]

Reflect: Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time - The Gospel is a metaphor for our lives. We are in the boat, the storms of life are raging around us, and like the disciples, we may believe that Jesus is unconcerned, or “sleeping". We hope that we will be as familiar with Jesus as his disciples. If we feel that Jesus is sleeping, are we comfortable enough to wake Jesus and present him with our needs? Jesus does not scold his disciples for waking him. Instead he scolds them for their lack of faith, for their lack of perspective. When we bring our worries to God in prayer, we might just begin to learn to see things from God's perspective.

Cemetery Sunday is a very special occasion when people come together to remember their departed loved ones. It can be a sad and lonely time as memories come back to us of the ones for whom we pray. While they are gone from us now we try to console ourselves that they are enjoying a fuller life of peace and joy and happiness in God's presence in heaven. 'I am the Ressurection and the Life, the one who believes in me will never suffer'.
