Edition 5 [30/31 May ] - Moate & Castledaly Newsletter [http://www.parishofmoate.com/newsletter/edition5.html]

Reflect: The Solemnity of The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) -This feast commemorates the gift that God has given to us in the Eucharist. Celebrating the Eucharist is the high point of our worship. Whenever we come to Mass and receive the Eucharist we are acknowledging Jesus as our bread of life, as the one who alone can satisfy our deepest hungers.

Choirs in St. Kieran’s Church Castledaly: Sincere thanks to the members of the senior choir who help us in our worship. The presence of the choir gives meaning to our Sunday liturgy and is much appreciated. New members are always welcome.

The children who form the choir from Kilcleagh National School, led by the Principal, Mary O Connell have been consistent at Masses especially in preparation for the Sacraments and also provide the music for Easter and Christmas and Funeral liturgies. Great credit is due to all involved. Thanks also to the parents who encourage the children to attend and be part of the choir.

Getting involved: We would welcome involvement by more people in our week end Masses. In this regard we would appreciate if you would give your name to one of the priests if you are prepared to be involved as a Reader or as a Eucharistic Minister. It’s encouraging when people come forward and express a willingness to be involved at whatever level.

Edition 5 [30th/31st May] - Moate & Castledaly Newsletter

Welcome: We welcome all who are new to the Community. If you think that there are ways by which we can assist you in becoming involved in the life of the Community do not hesitate to contact us. There are many organisations, committees, clubs and groups working for the good of others and by getting involved with one or other of these is a good way by which to integrate and be an active member of the Community.

Exam Time: Our thoughts and prayers are with the students who are starting their exams this week. We think especially about the students from the Community School who are involved in the Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate. We encourage them to relax and to be calm in their approach and to remember that Everything is okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end’.

Confirmation 2015: Congratulations to the 99 boys and girls who received Confirmation in St. Patrick's Church Moate on Thursday 21st May. Thanks to all who contributed to making the ceremony meaningful and prayerful. The Sacrament is received when young people are at an important stage in life facing new challenges when they will have to act responsibly. May the Grace of the Sacrament strengthen and sustain them into the future.

Scéal Exhibition: The official opening of the Scéal Exhibition at the refurbished Teach Cheoil by Labhrás Ó Murchú will take place at Dún na Sí on Sunday 31st May at 3pm. All are welcome to attend.

Moate Action Group: The Group is working closely with the Tidy Towns Committee in an effort to make the town more attractive, inviting and welcoming. To achieve this, cooperation will be necessary from everyone to end the scourge of litter, to remove or improve what is unsightly and to intensify efforts at having floral arrangements including window boxes and hanging baskets throughout the town. If everyone would make a contribution in this respect there could be a major transformation. The recent opening of the very impressive Amenity Park on May 15th and the planned opening of the cycle lane on Sunday, September 13th should provide an incentive for all of us to make our town a place where people would like to visit during the Summer months and enjoy what it has to offer.
