Reflect: Twenty Second  Sunday in Ordinary Time-

In the Gospel of next Sunday Jesus is teaching about holiness, which is not found in external acts alone. Holiness comes from within and is evidenced in the actions and attitudes that emerge from a person's life.Jesus' strong words to the Pharisees challenge us as well. In our desire to show that we are holy, we might also give too much attention to externals, following rules without thinking about the intention behind them. Jesus reminds us that we do not make ourselves holy by our actions. Rather, we become holy when we allow God's Spirit to transform us. Our actions should be an expression of the conversion of our heart to God and to God's ways. True holiness is then seen in acts of practical love and service. “Holiness consists simply in doing God's will, and being just what God wants us to be.”  Thérèse de Lisieux

Fr.Pat Kiernan CC: On Tuesday 1st September we say farewell to our Parish Curate, Fr. Pat Kiernan, who has been with us for the past fifteen years. Originally from the Parish of Dromard in North Longford  Fr. Pat served in Ballymahon, St. Mel’s College and Mohill before coming to Mount Temple. Over the many years he has been with us he has been a dedicated and hard working servant of the people and in particular with the people of Mount Temple – caring for the sick, preparing children for the Sacrament of First Communion and Confirmation, helping people in their preparation for Marriage, and most especially he has been wonderful at the sad times of bereavement and death. As he takes leave and says goodbye we realise it is difficult uprooting and moving on.  But it is great that he has been part of our Parish and we wish him every Blessing from God in his new Parish of Edgeworthstown and may he have Good Health and Happiness.
