Edition 10 [ 4th/5th July ] - Moate & Castledaly Newsletter [http://www.parishofmoate.com/newsletter/edition10.html]

Reflect: Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time - In the readings for next Sunday Amos and the Apostles are sent out to journey, trusting only in God’s grace. The Apostles were not to rely on their own resources but on the power that had been given to them by God and the kindness of those who they met on their way. . Jesus also calls us to share in his mission and sends us out to serve others. When we surrender to God’s purpose for our lives he carries us with His infinite goodness. And so with Mary we can say in faith ‘Let it be done to me according to your word'.

Recent Deaths: We remember in our prayers Sister Elizabeth Holloway, Sisters of Mercy, Moate and George Ledwith, Fassagh, Mount Temple.
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament every Friday from 9am - 6pm in St. Patrick's Church. If you wish to attend in prayer for an hour, please write your name in the book at the top of the Church.

Cemetery Sunday: As already included in previous editions, this Sunday is Cemetery Sunday in Donegan with Mass being celebrated at 3pm. Due to Westmeath’s Senior Football Team being involved in the Leinster Final on Sunday July 12th, Cemetery Day is being brought forward in Castledaly to Saturday July 11th with Mass being celebrated at 6pm. Hopefully the change will not cause great inconvenience but will be appreciated by all who wish to see Westmeath in action. Remember too that there will be no 9.30am Mass in St Ciaran’s Church on Sunday July 12th.

Distribution of the Newsletter: Sincere thanks to the people who have taken responsibility for the distribution of the newsletter at the 6.30pm and the 10am Masses in St Patrick’s Church and the 9.30am Mass in Castledaly. We still need volunteers to do likewise at the 11.30am Mass in St Patrick’s.
Edition 10 [ 11th/12th July ] - Moate & Castledaly Newsletter

Congratulations: Heartiest congratulations to the Westmeath Senior Football Team on reaching the Leinster Final in such a determined and impressive way. Great credit is due to the manager and his team for instilling in the players a sense of self belief and commitment. The achievement also reflects the consistent dedication and hard work of all the clubs throughout the county who have been dreaming for a long time about Westmeath leaving their old rivals knocking on the back door. We congratulate too the Westmeath ladies who have reached the Leinster Final after a comfortable win over the Royals in Mullingar on Sunday last.

Tidy Towns: The response to the appeal to make the town more attractive and inviting through floral displays and a greater effort at cleanliness is both obvious and welcome. The 7pm turn out of so many on Wednesday evenings for the weekly clean–up is also most encouraging. Hopefully the group will continue to grow so that our working together for the improvement of our surroundings will reflect in a more impressive way our sense of pride in the place where we live. With regard to improvements, mention should be made of those involved in the redevelopment of the roundabout on the Dublin Road, incorporating the Tripod with the Weighing Scales which symbolizes our heritage as a market town.

Moate Action Group: The proposed feasibility study outlining an elaborate and ambitious plan for the development of Moate from an economic, cultural, social, educational and commercial point of view is now at an advanced stage. If the plan receives the response and commitment which it calls for in implementing the various ideas and projects suggested, the town will be a much improved place in which to live and a much more attractive place to visit.
